Centre for Employment Relations and Regulations

 

The Centre has been established for undertaking specilised research relating to employment relations and regulations.Research activities of the Centre would focus on the following themes:

  • Social Protection for Informal Sector and Socio- Legal aspects of LabourLaws and Labour Standards

  • Sociol - Economic Conditions of Workers in the Post VRS situation.

  • Casual and contingent of employment.

  • Contract Labour.

Specific issues included in the Centre's current research agenda are:

  • Analysing the emerging forms of contingent employment and its effects on employment relations in different industries/regions. Undertaking comparative studies of labour laws in similarly placed countries and situating it in the context of globalisation. Examining the relationship between labour legislations and employment  

  • Re-defining the concept of social security in an under-developed economy where insecurities in terms of employment, income and health seem to be growing.  

  • Assessing the efficacy of the existing social security measures, especially in relation to the informal/unorganised sectors  

  • Examining the possibilities of decentralized implementation of existing and future social security programmes.

  • Studying the political economy of labour laws.

  • Undertaking comparative studies of labour legislations in similarly placed countries and situating it in the context of globalisation.

  • Examining the trends in labour jurisprudence.

  • Studying the organising questions in the context of changing employment relations

  • Short Biographies of Eminent Labour Leaders of India (Published in the form of book in Hindi)

  • Strengthening Labour Laws in order to Prevent Violations.
