Yoga Programme
(July 6-26, 2007)
The Institute has
organized Yoga Training during July 6-26, 2007. The yoga session was
conducted every morning between 6:30 and 7:30 AM. The participants
were trained by Mr. Ravinder Dutt Sharma, a follower of Baba
Ramdevji. These sessions were tailored for all levels and ages from
beginner to advanced and no experienced were needed and there was no
charge. The young and the old arrived in the lawns at 6:15 AM to
warm up and participated with lot of enthusiasm.
Valedictory Session
of the Training Programme on
Labour Issues in
Post-Globalisation Era (August
3, 2007)
Mr. Ashok
Pradhan, MP (Lok Sabha) for Khurja constituency addressed the
participants of the Training Programme on Labour Issues in Post-Globalisation
Era at the Valedictory session on 3rd August 2007. Shri Kanwar
Manjit Singh, Director V. V. Giri National Labour Institute chaired
the session. This training programme was organized during August
1-3, 2007 at V. V. Giri National Labour Institute, Noida focusing on
issues such as Voluntary retirement Schemes, Redeployment and
Computerisation. The objectives of the programme were to understand
and analyse the major components of globalization that affect
employment relation and to examine and respond to the emerging
issues and challenges in industrial relations and trade unionism in
a globalizing economy with a view to learn and share experiences on
new forms of labour management practices.
Commemoration of
the Birth Anniversary of Dr.V.V. Giri
The Birth Anniversary
of Late Shri V.V. Giri, Former President of India and Champion of
Labour Movement, was commemorated on 10th August 2007 by the V.V.
Giri National Labour Institute, Noida. Shri Kanwar Manjit Singh,
Director V. V. Giri National Labour Institute, gave the keynote
address and expressed happiness and gratitude to the dignitaries and
delegates for positively responding to the invitation extended by
the Institute. Shri Oscar Fernandes, Honourable Union Minister of
State for Labour & Employment (Independent Charge) and President,
General Council, V.V. Giri National Labour Institute was the Chief
Guest of this function. To mark this occasion, the Institute has
organized a panel discussion on the theme “Employment Challenges in
a Globalizing World” which is of contemporary significance and
relevance. Dr. Jayati Ghosh and Shri Amitabh Kundu, eminent
Professors of Jawahar Lal Nehru University, were the speakers on the
topic. The panel discussion was chaired by Dr. Mohini Giri.
Participants who attended this discourse include Government
Officials, Members of various Trade Unions, Academia, Civil Society
Organisations, Labour Activists, Research Scholars, etc. They
evinced a lot of interest by raising a range of questions on the
topic and by expressing their opinion on the same.
Independence Day
Celebrations
Events play a very
important role in Institution-building. The V. V. Giri National
Labour Institute has been involved in incredible number of
activities and there is so much going on to facilitate and promote
institutional growth. The Recreation Committee has been in place and
playing varying roles in organizing different events with the able
guidance of Shri Kanwar Manjit Singh, Director, V. V. Giri
National Labour Institute.
The
Independence Day celebration of the ancient and great nation, India,
commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Shri Kanwar
Manjit Singh, the Director. After Saluting the Flag, Children sang
the National Anthem and patriotic songs. A number of events such as
Lemon and Spoon, Hopping in Gunny bags, Musical Chair, Antakshri and
Tug of War were organized. Painting competition was held after
categorizing children in two different age groups i.e. those who are
below 10 years of age and 10 to 15 years. Besides, Badminton
tournaments were conducted for different groups - Girls Singles,
Boys Singles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles, Men’s Singles, Men’s
Doubles and Mixed Doubles. This was a great platform for children,
young and old to be able to demonstrate their talents and Skills and
unveil their hitherto hidden potential.
Medical Camp (18th
August 2007)
Envisioned by
Shri Kanwar Manjit Singh, Director V. V. Giri National Labour
Institute, a medical camp was organized at the Institute’s campus
for Inoculation of Hepatitis B on 18th August 2007. This camp was
first of its kind in the history of the Institute and it was
conducted in association with Sumitra Hospital, NOIDA towards
protecting all the employees and their family members from Hepatitis
B. The Honourable Member of Parliament for Ghaziabad, Shri S. P.
Goel, visited the camp. Several of the employees and their family
members got innoculated. This camp is the first of the series of
medical camps planned by the Medical Committee of the Institute.
